Consultation about the Austria's UN Security Council membership at the Austrian Foreign Ministry.

On 5 September 2011 Ambassador István Szabó (Head of Department for International Organisations, Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Hungary), Ms. Veronika Lakatos (special advisor of the Department responsible for the Hungarian UN Security Council candidacy campaign for 2012-2013) and Mr. Attila Juhász (diplomat of the Hungarian Permanent Mission to the UN) conducted consultations at the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Austrian experiences gained during their non-permanent membership to the UN Security Council. The Hungarian delegation was hosted by Mr. Peter Huber (former Head of Department for UN Affairs) who shared the Austrian experiences and observations thus supporting the preparation for a possible Hungarian non-permanent Security Council membership.

After the consultation in the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs a working luncheon was given at the Hungarian Permanent Mission to the UN with the participation of the aforementioned delegation. At the luncheon Mr. István Szabó had the opportunity to share his views on the Hungarian membership to the UN Security Council with the ambassadors invited to this event. In particular those ambassadors were invited to the luncheon, that have not yet clearly expressed their support to the Hungarian candidacy. The ambassadors and representatives of the following nine countries attended the luncheon: Kenya, Tajikistan, Andorra, Armenia, Iceland, Luxemburg, Afghanistan, Peru and Columbia.
