Focuos on the progress in international efforts to address transnational organized crime, including emerging issues such as cybercrime.
The Commission, which is the central body within the United Nations system providing policy guidance on crime prevention andcriminal justice, devoted a special session on the misuse of technology for the abuse and exploitation of children. On the margins of the Commission a programme of side events were organised addressing some of the msot challenging crime issues today, including maritime piracy or crimes against cultural property.
The EU had presented a draft resolution on "Technical assistance for implementing the international conventions and protocols related to terrorism", which was widely supported by partners. The EU did not co-sponsor any other resolution due to the chaotic nature of the Session. The CCPCJ adopted a decision on the organization of work for its future sessions, in order to facilitate the preparation for and execution of the work of the Commission.
