The CTBTO Working Group B met between March 16 and 27 in Vienna. Dr. István Bondár, senior seismologist at the Research Centre for Astronomy and Earth Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences participated at the meeting.

Dr István Bondár, senior seismologist at the Research Centre for Astronomy and Earth Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences has joined the Hungarian delegation for the Preparatory Commission Working Group B 44th Session. Dr Bondár has been actively involved in monitoring research and the location calibration of the IMS network in the past two decades. Among others, he worked for the Prototype International Data Center, Arlington, Virginia, the CTBTO IDC, Vienna, Austria, the Science Applications International Corporation, McLean, Virginia, and the International Seismological Centre, Thatcham, United Kingdom. His results have been published in peer-reviewed papers, and some, such as the slowness-azimuth corrections for IMS stations are still in use in the IDC operations.

During the Working Group B session Dr Bondár was invited to participate in the work of the Waveform Expert Group. The Waveform Expert Group has listened to PTS progress reports about the work in waveform quality control, NetVisa, and preparations for implementing and testing the Regional Seismic Travel Times package that will provide improved travel-time predictions for local and regional seismic phases. The joint session of the Waveform Expert and the Radionuclide Expert groups proved to be quite useful in bringing closer the two communities and develop a common understanding about a future fusion bulletin.
