As part of the 2014 Academic Forum of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban-Treaty Organization (CTBTO) a panel discussion took place on 8 May 2014 at the Permanent Mission of Hungary in Vienna that was attended by all participants of the Academic Forum.

About 40 scientists and researchers coming from 20 countries, as well as the ambassadors of some of these countries have participated at the event co-hosted by the permanent representative of Indonesia in his capacity as Article XIV co-coordinator.

The participants represented institutions offering in their educational programs courses related to the CTBT and other disarmament and non-proliferation regimes. The subject of this year’s Forum was knowledge transfer and global education. In this context, the panelists of the discussion held the Permanent Mission of Hungary delivered presentations on efforts aiming at the support of the so called “Article XIV process” promoting the entry into force of the Treaty.

Lassina Zerbo, Executive Secretary of the CTBTO talked about the future of the CTBT, Ambassador Rachmat Budiman, Permanent Representative of Indonesia presented the Indonesian ratification process of the Treaty and ambassador Balázs Csuday introduced the outreach activities of the Article XIV coordinators as contained in their Action Plan for the period 2013-2015 and outlined the contribution of the European Union to the CTBTO.
