The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has asked Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi to chair the international conference on nuclear security next year, the Hungarian Foreign Ministry said, citing a statement made by IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano at a Board of Governors session November 30, 2012.

Minister Martonyi accepted the request for chairing the conference to be held in Vienna in June 2013. The conference is expected to become an important stage of international cooperation in providing for the security of nuclear materials and facilities. The request is recognition of Hungary’s expertise in the field and its professional work done in the IAEA.
