The Parliamentary Committees for Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Economic and National Cohesion endorsed Péter Szijjártó’s appointment after a joint hearing on Saturday.

Before the Committees, Mr. Szijjártó pointed out that Hungary's foreign policy needs to be reformed in order to meet the requirements of the new world order and that foreign policy must strive to enforce Hungary's economic interests.

It was announced last Friday that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had nominated Péter Szijjártó to succeed Tibor Navracsics, who is intended to take office as an EU commissioner.
